Onboarding Setup

Learn how to complete your account setup, understand your onboarding progress, and claim your setup rewards

When you first create your Roastify account, you'll see an onboarding checklist that guides you through the essential steps to get your business up and running. This guide explains what each step means and how to complete them.

The member onboarding checklist is not required for guest checkout or for keeping a free account after a guest order. Use it when you want member pricing, Shopify, the Developer API, or a Pro Roastify Store.

Understanding the Onboarding Flow

The onboarding checklist appears on your dashboard when you're logged in. It tracks your progress through 4 key steps.

Why Onboarding Matters

Completing onboarding helps you:

  • Get Started Faster: Each step prepares you to actually sell coffee
  • Avoid Surprises: Understanding billing and plans before you're charged
  • Claim Rewards: Complete all steps to unlock special offers

You don't have to complete onboarding in order, but it's recommended to follow the natural flow.

Step 1: Design Your First Product

Creating your first product is the foundation of your Roastify business. This step is complete when you have at least one published product.

Browse the Catalog See what coffees are available for your product.
Start Designing Use the Design Studio to create custom packaging.
Save and Publish Make your product visible for ordering.

A "published" product is visible in your store and can be ordered. Draft products are saved but not visible.

What Counts as Complete?

  • You have created at least one product
  • The product is published (not just in draft)
  • The product has a valid design

Step 2: Add Payment Method

Before you can place wholesale orders or fulfill customer orders, you need a payment method on file.

Without a payment method, orders cannot be fulfilled. This is required for Shopify dropshipping and API orders. Wholesale orders are billed at checkout and don't necessarily require a payment method.

Adding a Payment Method

Go to Settings in the navigation
Click on Billing
Find the Payment Method section
Click Add Credit Card or Update Card
Enter your card information securely through Stripe
Click Save

Payment Methods Accepted

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express
  • Debit cards with Visa/MC logo

All payment processing is handled securely by Stripe. We never store your full card number.

What Counts as Complete?

  • A valid credit card is saved to your account
  • The card has been verified successfully
  • The card is not expired

Step 3: Choose Your Plan

Your membership determines your pricing, catalog, fulfillment speed, and sales-channel features. Both Base and Pro include Developer API access. Choose Base for member pricing and the core 12oz catalog, or Pro for the full catalog, priority fulfillment, and Roastify Stores.

Selecting Your Plan

Go to Settings in the navigation
Click on Plans
Review the available plans
Click Upgrade on your chosen plan
Enter payment information if prompted
Confirm your selection

You can keep a free account without a monthly fee. A paid membership is required for member product pricing and connected selling features.

What Counts as Complete?

  • You have an active Base or Pro membership
  • Your payment is processing successfully

Step 4: Order Samples

See current options, availability, and pricing on the Order Samples page.

Tracking Your Progress

On the dashboard, each step shows its current status:

  • Not Started: Gray indicator - step hasn't been attempted
  • In Progress: Yellow indicator - you've started but not finished
  • Complete: Green checkmark - step is done
